Large Monarch Butterfly Jewelry Dish with Native Milkweed Flower and Gold Accent

This ceramic dish features a beautiful handpainted Monarch butterfly hovering near a Milkweed flower, the Monarch's special flower. This dish is special place for jewelry, trinkets, a special ring, or an incense cone. The ceramic dish is accented with real 22kt gold.
This butterfly ceramic dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and high-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The butterfly is sculpted carefully by hand and then painted by hand with ceramic underglazes before being fired in the kiln to full vitrification. The glaze is a glossy warm white with the beauty of a high fired ceramic, showing off the intricate detail of the leaves and the gorgeous wings of the butterfly . A real 22kt gold overglaze is applied and then fired a third time to bond the gold to the piece. It is a labor intensive process that is worth the extra step.
