Dogwood Flower Jewelry Holder, Ceramic Dish with Sculpted Flowers
The dogwood flower is a beautiful symbol of renewal, hope, and strength. I grew up with dogwood trees in our front garden and I loved seeing the flowers every spring. These flowers are sculpted completely by hand. I make each bract and petal individually by hand, and they are an integrated part of the ceramic dish. The leaves are imprinted from real leaves from my garden. The dish makes a special place for your jewelry, and the flowers can even serve as a pair of ring holders, as you can see in the photos.
This ceramic dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, sculpted by hand, bisque fired, painted with ceramic stains, glazed, and kiln fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The glaze is a glossy soft clear, a coating of glass that gives it a beautiful shine. Everything is individually hand sculpted and hand painted, each piece a small and unique work of art.
Real gold is applied to the rim and piece in a special process designed for ceramics, and the piece is fired a third time to bond the gold. It's a labor intensive process with a beautiful result.
Measurements: Approximately 5 inches wide
Slight variations and organic shapes in handcrafted ceramics are what make them perfectly unique pieces of art. Each dish is slightly different, a beautiful feature of handmade art.
