Extra Large Arctic Fox with Spiral Fern Leaf Jewelry Dish, Ceramic with Gold Accent
Arctic foxes is a powerful symbol is survival, perseverance, and strength. This tiny arctic fox curls up in the center of a winter's fern leaf spiral. Spirals appear throughout nature, from a tiny snail shell to a spiral galaxy. Spirals have been regarded as sacred symbols since ancient times and throughout the world, representing new life, renewal, or eternity. Fern fronds unfurl as beautiful spirals, celebrated in this ceramic jewelry dish. The spiral fern paired with the arctic fox fills us with the spirit of life standing strong, always renewing.
This ceramic piece is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and kiln-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The fern is imprinted from a real fern frond, and carefully handpainted one leaf at a time to accent the intricate detail.
The glaze is a glossy soft clear, warm white on the underside. Real 22kt gold overglaze is applied to the rim in a special process, and the dish is fired a third time to bond the gold to the piece. It's a very labor intensive process that gives a special finishing touch.
This jewelry holder is handmade from start to finish, entirely by me in my California studio. Each piece is a labor of love that I hope will bring light and joy into your home.
