Cardinal jewelry dish, Ceramic dish with botanical imprints
“Keep a green bough in your heart and the singing bird will come.” This jewelry dish features the cardinal, a symbol of abundance and good luck and vitality since ancient times. The cardinal's red color is beautiful thing to see throughout the seasons, even in winter, giving strength and hope to those around. Although I live in San Diego now, I grew up in Ohio where it is the state bird and a beloved sight.
The plant used to create this dish is thyme. Thyme symbolizes courage and strength. Keep these things green in your heart, and the singing bird will come.
This ceramic jewelry holder is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and kiln-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. Real thyme sprigs are used to make the imprint for the branches, and the tiny cardinal is sculpted by hand and then painted by hand. The glaze is a glossy warm white. Real 22kt gold details are hand painted and then fired onto the piece in a special process for ceramics.
This jewelry and ring holder is handmade from start to finish, entirely by me in my California studio, a labor of love that I hope will bring a sparkle of joy into your home.
Measurements: Approximately 5 inches wide
Slight variations and organic shapes in handcrafted ceramics are what make them perfectly unique pieces of art.
