Spiral Fern Leaf Jewelry Dish, Ceramic with Gold Accent
Spirals appear throughout nature, from a tiny snail shell to a spiral galaxy. Spirals have been regarded as sacred symbols since ancient times and throughout the world, representing new life, renewal, or eternity. Fern fronds unfurl as beautiful spirals and is celebrated in this ceramic jewelry dish. This sparkling fern leaf provides a tranquil forest corner for your special rings, earrings, totems, or other jewelry.
This ceramic piece is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and kiln-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The fern is imprinted from a real fern frond, and carefully handpainted one leaf at a time to accent the intricate detail.
The glaze is a glossy soft clear, warm white on the underside. Real 22kt gold overglaze is applied to the rim in a special process, and the dish is fired a third time to bond the gold to the piece. It's a labor intensive process that gives a special finishing touch.
This jewelry holder is handmade from start to finish, entirely by me in my California studio. Each piece is a labor of love that I hope will bring light and joy into your home.
