Starry Night Leaf, Ceramic Dish with Gold Accents
A star-shaped leaf sparkling like a starry night sky. This cobalt blue star is created using the leaves of Cestrum Nocturtum (a night-blooming flower that releases its fragrance only at night). I love the sweet, star shape of this magical dish, a perfect place to keep a special treasure.
This leaf dish is made by pressing real leaves from my garden into smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay - It's then dried, bisque fired, colored and glazed, and kiln-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The piece has the translucent deep cobalt blue beauty of kiln-fired ceramic, while showing off the intricate detail of the leaf. Real 22kt gold is applied and then fired a third time to bond the gold to the piece. It is a labor-intensive process that is worth the extra step.
Measurements: Approximately 5.5 inches wide from star tip to tip
Slight variations and organic shapes in handcrafted ceramics are what make them perfectly unique pieces of art.
