White Cat Playing with Yarn, Jewelry Dish with Gold Accent
Take a look at those tiny pink toes! This playful little kitty is playing with a ball of yarn on this vintage pink "rug", a sweet little spot for your rings or small jewelry.
This ceramic dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and high-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The detailed pink "rug" is made from the imprint of a beautiful vintage lace doily. The cat and yarn are sculpted from the same clay, meticulously handpainted with colored glazes. And those sweet little paws playfully raised in the air show the adorable tiny pink "toe beans."
The glaze is a glossy soft clear. Real 22kt gold overglaze is applied to the rim in a special process, and the dish is fired a third time to bond the gold to the piece. It's a labor intensive process that gives a special finishing touch.
This jewelry holder is handmade from start to finish, entirely by me in my California studio. Each piece is a labor of love that I hope will bring light and joy into your home.
