Large California Poppy Jewelry Holder, Ceramic Dish with Flower Imprint
Calfiornia Poppies are the most iconic flower of California, covering the hills in a blanket of vibrant orange-gold throughout the spring.
This ceramic jewelry holder is covered with handpainted California Poppy flowers and has a real 22kt gold accent on the rim. Handmade from start to finish, using flowers from my own garden, creating a special spot for your rings, earrings, other jewelry, or incense cones.
This ceramic dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and kiln-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The flowers are imprinted from actual poppy flowers from my own garden, and the organically shaped piece is sculpted by hand - the rim undulates randomly, echoing the shape of California hillsides where poppies grow. The flowers are each handpainted with shades of green, orange, and yellow. The glaze is a glossy soft clear.
Real gold is applied to the rim in a special process designed for ceramics, and the piece is fired a third time to bond the gold. It's a labor intensive process with a beautiful result.
Measurements: Approximately 8-8.5 inches wide
Slight variations and organic shapes in handcrafted ceramics are what make them perfectly unique pieces of art.
